Arturo Smith - Director of Photography

He comes from Venezuela, wears wild dreadlocks, owns a British passport and spends more time in airplanes then in his home base Berlin. It is not easy to write about Arturo, because he is so versatile that he easily defies most attempts to categorize his work. He likes it creative, a little bit edgy, a little bit arty or experimental. Prior to shooting his “Anti Christ” music video for Marilyn Manson he carefully baked the film stock in an oven. After exposure he hand processed the negative in his bath tub to create the intended unseen effects. Arturo has the rare ability to add some magic to projects that would otherwise end up as well executed mainstream. His many journeys have sharpened his senses for architecture and landscapes. He is a very experienced underwater photographer, and has 20 plus international feature films on his reel, many of them award-winning.
